The western veil ( NGC 6960 ) is part of a huge nebula in Cygnus. The remnants of a supernova, about 5000 years ago is approx 1.470 light years away. Emissions from the nebula indicate the presence of oxygen, sulphur and hydrogen.
This image was taken with a Canon 40D DSLR and 8" Ritchey Chretien Astrograph at F/5. 29 x 3 mins @ ISO 1600. 15 dark frames were subtracted. Imaging and calibration in Nebulosity and processing in Images Plus and Photoshop CS5.
