Tonight I was joined by Andy and Bob at the observatory and what may be the first meeting of the Scunthorpe Astronomical and Astrophotography Society. I met Andy and Bob last Saturday at Normanby Hall when we attended a Star Gazing feast with the Sky At Night Astronomer Paul Money..It was clear skies and after a 90 minute talk and tour of the night sky we all resumed outdoors to gaze at the universe..
The image on the left was taken with a modified Canon 40D with an Astronomic Light Pollution Filter. The filter cuts unwanted sky glow and the glare from sodium street lighting. Only ten images were taken, aligned and stacked in Nebulosity. 10 x 5 mins @ ISO 1600 with an F/8 Ritchey Cretien Astrograph.
The image on the right was taken with the same equipment but 3 minute exposures instead of 5 minutes.
